CCD is a Cambodian non-governmental organization working to
build community capacities at grassroots level. Our head office is in Kampong
Chhnang province, Cambodia, and we are working with poor and vulnerable people
living along Tonle Sap floodplain areas. We also currently facilitate community
peace building network using active non-violence approach for communities across
the country.
The history of CCD started from a situation in Kampong Chhnang
where there was a strong fishery conflict between poor fishermen and middle
men occurred, and communities faced big threats from fishing plot workers. CCD
facilitated community set up and mobilized women to involve them in community
development activities. In 2006, the Board of Directors started functioning
and formal organizational structure, systems and policies were developed.
CCD is now one among smallest number of organizations in Cambodia,
who is certified with standards of internal good practice from NGO
Good Practice Project, a project of CCC Cambodia that promotes
NGO accountability and good practice (more information, please visit the website
at www.ccc-cambodia.org).
